The Bangladeshi American Police Association (BAPA), an organization of Bangladeshis working in the New York City Police Department (NYPD), celebrated its 8th Annual Awards ceremony. The grand event was held on Friday evening, October 11, in Queens, where the main sponsor was Your Dream Home Care. The event was attended by over 500 guests, including expatriate Bangladeshis. During the ceremony, 10 individuals were honored in various categories for their contributions, and special recognition was given to outstanding officers with crest awards. BAPA officials highlighted that they are encouraging ambitious and highly educated young Bangladeshis from the community to pursue careers in the New York Police Department.
Among the attendees were the city’s Chief Administrative Officer Mir Bashar, Police Commissioner Thomas J. Donlon, and Bangladesh’s Consul General in New York, Nazmul Huda. Other notable attendees included Your Dream Home Care’s President and former President of Bangladesh Society and current Chairman of the Board of Trustees M. Aziz, CEO of Your Dream Home Care Faisal Aziz, and many distinguished members of the community.
Guests were welcomed by BAPA President Ershad Siddiq, First Vice President A K M Alam, Second Vice President Mohammad Chowdhury, Secretary Rashekul Malik, Media Liaison Jamil Sarwar, Correspondent Secretary Syed Enayet Ali, Community Liaison Sardar Mamun, Treasurer Mehedi Mamun, Co-Treasurer Jasim Mia, and Event Coordinator Sheikh Ahmed. Since 2015, BAPA has been organizing this event. In previous years, Mayor Eric Adams attended every event, but this time, due to being implicated in a bribery, corruption, and nepotism case, he was not present.
Expressing gratitude to the guests and Bangladeshi members of the NYPD, Faisal Aziz, CEO of Your Dream Home Care, said, “Our organization continues to support the Bangladeshi community in various ways. As you know, my father, M. Aziz, has been in business in the U.S. for many years. He was the elected President of the Bangladesh Society and has stood by the community through thick and thin.”
He added, “I am grateful for today’s event. Programs like this strengthen the bonds within the Bangladeshi community and help support the progress of our future generations.”
