In a troubling wave of youth violence, four teenagers were fatally shot in New York City over the course of four days, including two victims killed on public housing grounds, authorities reported.
The latest incident involved 15-year-old Tristan Sanders, who was shot in the chest around 7:20 p.m. Sunday at the NYCHA Albany Houses in Crown Heights. Sanders was transported to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
On Saturday night, 16-year-old Taearion Mungo was fatally shot outside a building at the Walt Whitman Houses in Fort Greene around 11:45 p.m. Mungo, who had prior gun-related arrests, was also taken to the hospital but did not survive.
The violence began early Thursday, when 16-year-old Clarence Jones was shot in the torso near West 124th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem. He was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital. Photos captured Jones’ devastated father at the scene. Police are looking for two suspects seen on Razor scooters.
Another victim, 15-year-old Malachi Deberry, was shot in the head on Friday night in Brownsville. Deberry was initially in critical condition at Maimonides Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries. Police are still investigating all four shootings, and no arrests have been made.
