Two Bangladeshis have been included in the transition team of New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams. They are Morshed Alam in the Immigration Committee and Shahriar Rahman in the Information Technology Committee.

Both are residents of Queens. Morshed Alam, originally from Chandpur, is a pioneer among expatriates in mainstream U.S. politics. He has been working as an organizer for the Democratic Party for over two decades. Many in the community have expressed satisfaction over Awami League supporter Morshed Alam’s appointment.

Young community organizer Shahriar Rahman gained widespread recognition for distributing relief supplies to helpless people during the COVID-19 lockdown.
